Sustainability Strategy

Domtar strives to put sustainability at the heart of everything we do. Producing industry-leading forest products with a commitment to our employees, customers and communities – and a dedication to sustainability – is the core of our mission.

Our strategy is built on the foundation of three strategic pillars (Environmental Stewardship, Responsible Business and Our People and Communities) guided by the following principles:

  • Steward the planet’s resources responsibly by striving to reduce the footprint of our everyday operations and setting actionable objectives that positively impact nature
  • Contribute to the prosperity and quality of life in our operating communities through trusted partnerships, thoughtful engagement and support for the well-being and development of our employees in a safe and inclusive workplace; and
  • Uphold ethical business practices and engage with our business partners and stakeholders honestly and transparently.
We are also focused on building meaningful strategic partnerships founded on trust through transparency and accountability. Strategic partnerships help us have the difficult conversations that challenge our assumptions and strengthen our ambitions. They broaden our perspectives by working outside our comfort zones and create positive change through collaboration.

Our Global Sustainability Policy centralizes and combines our sustainability stance as one Domtar, and it has been adopted by Domtar’s Management Board. The Global Sustainability Policy is the framework for how we will fulfill Domtar’s mission to produce industry-leading forest products with a commitment to our employees, customers, and communities and a dedication to sustainability.
