For Immediate Release:

[Richmond, BC] – Today, Prince Albert Pulp Inc. (PAPI) announced that the mill operations team has selected three Prince Albert-based contracting companies for upcoming work at the mill. Impact Mechanical has been selected to do demolition work in the mill and on the site, Bill’s Electrical has been selected for electrical demolition work, and Flatlander’s Scaffolding for scaffolding work to support the demolition activity.

The combined amount of all three contracts is approximately $1.4 million - the largest one-time investment PAPI has made in recent years, besides ongoing salaries for employees at the mill. All three contracting companies are expected to begin work in the coming days, and the work is expected to take approximately three months to complete.

“We are very pleased to have these local contractors on site over the next few months to complete critical work as we keep moving the Prince Albert Pulp mill restart project forward,” said Carlo Dal Monte, project operations director for the Prince Albert Pulp restart project.

Demolition work will consist of removing existing equipment and materials from the mill site that is obsolete or won’t be needed in the new iteration of the mill.

“The Government of Saskatchewan is committed to increasing our forestry sector exports as well as creating more forestry-related jobs in our province as outlined in Saskatchewan’s Growth Plan.” Minister of Environment Dana Skoropad said. “This additional investment represents a strong commitment to the success of this project by Paper Excellence and is a sign of the strength of our forestry sector.”

The PAPI mill restart project remains subject to permit approvals and market conditions.
